“I was out there. I never did any cocaine or heroin, none of that stuff. Just having drinks, smoking cigars. I never touched a drug in my life, besides, I’m going to call alcohol a drug,” Rodman said. “I never touched a drug in my life ever.”
His comments offered a direct response to decades of speculation that followed him throughout and after his NBA career.

“God damn people, really think I’m that bad. People get this misconception about me; they think I’m doing drugs heavily, like cocaine, acid, heroin, and stuff like that. “I only drink alcohol,” Rodman said. He added that he partied heavily in Las Vegas, and many people became genuinely concerned about his lifestyle. “I slowed down for a minute, got my s—t together.”
Rodman also explained that despite late nights and frequent partying, he always focused on delivering his best performance whenever he stepped onto the court. As his career progressed, he recognized the need to change and gradually scaled back his partying.
